Stories: BAR-Project

On October 31, 2009 we went to the Belgian Ardennes to make some pictures for a BAR-Project.

Mr. Simon Harrold (http://www.lerenfort.fsnet.co.uk) asked us if we wanted to reconstruct the story of Sgt. Robert Cahow by taking three specific pictures.

Sgt. Cahow, together with Pvt. Mizell and Pvt. Peddicord, volunteered on December 13, 1944 for a small mission: search and evacuate wounded soldiers in the area of the Hürgtenwald (near bunker 111). Sgt. Cahow, a BAR-gunner, suddenly stepped on a booby trap and was killed. The two other soldiers ran away, probably because they were afraid. Sgt. Cahow was stated 'Missing In Action' until 2000. Then his body was found by German engineers who were clearing the area.

If you are interested in the whole story of Sgt. Cahow, please visit the website of Mr. Harrold (http://www.lerenfort.fsnet.co.uk/page6N.htm), where you can also see the result of the photoshoot.

What follows is a selection of photographs taken by one of our members. Please enjoy.
