Operation Grenade (Page 3)
Shortly afterwards 3rd Battalion took Wassenberg.

On the 28th of Feb. L- and K-company passed through Birgelen and the surrounding woods (Birgelen Wald). To their surprise the G.I.’s found “propaganda flyers” (soon more information about the propaganda flyers) in some houses in Birgelen. The Nazis has deliberately left those flyers for the Allied troops.

The 35th I.D. Belgium wishes to thank gratefully:
- Our friends from ‘Pattern ‘37’ for the German display
- Mr. Emil Leeuws for using his farmhouse.
- Mr. Simon Lerenfort for his help and support.
- Thank you James A. HUSTON.
An important note: The photographs are a way to explain the history of the 35th Infantry Division. There are some mistakes (for example: the 35th Inf. Div. did not wear divisional insignia between February 6th and February 24th), but we did our best to reduce them to a minimum.
